Jaume Plensa's sculpture Dream stands 20 metres high on top of the former Sutton Manor Colliery overlooking the motorway between Liverpool and Manchester. Chosen by local ex-miners to inspire future generations, visitors have left their own imprints on the base in mud in a gesture of mark making as old as humanity.
